Feeling stressed is a natural part of life which we all have experienced. For so long people have researched into methods to help reduce the influence of stress on our lives. Aromatherapy is one of many that have been shown to reduce and relief stress and it is a method which I believe everyone should try to see whether it works for them.
WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?
The term ‘aroma’ means scent and ‘therapy’ means treatment. In my view, I perceive aromatherapy as an activity where you relax in peace and let the beautiful fragrance oils and aromatic flowers calm your mind and slow down the pace of the world. The way you use aromatherapy and how often is down to which appropriate method is more suitable to your way of life. Some people have "time out" sessions if they have an outburst of stress, others place scented oils or fragranced flowers around their home for continuous beautiful and soothing aromas and some carry these fragrant flowers around with them during their daily activities. You may wish to visit an aromatherapist in your local area who can perform aromatherapy massage on your body using essential oils or lotions; however the sessions are frequent and usually costly. Rather than visit an aromatherapist, many people purchase essential oils or aromatic lotions from their local pharmacy; however before purchasing a consumer must be aware of the risks of using these products as well as any allergies.
IS AROMATHERAPY EFFECTIVE?
Have you ever wondered why perhaps your neighbours, friends or in other peoples gardens they have lavender plants? Apart from their beauty, it is no mystery that they have a strong soothing smell. Lavender is one of the most common fragrances used for aromatherapy, and is one of the most available products on the market. It is no wonder why you see ‘monkey beanie’ products filled with lavender that you place in the microwave purchased frequently. Apart from looking adorable it is a great way to get the aroma constantly around you, even as you fall asleep. Aromatherapy also offers an alternative and natural method of combating stress rather than turning to drugs and medication.
DOES AROMATHERAPY CARRY RISKS?
It is recommended not to partake in aromatherapy activities too frequently as side-effects include feeling sick and having headaches as the aroma is strong. In addition aromatherapy is not suitable if you have epilepsy, high blood pressure and if you are pregnant. If you do have any concerns it is best to contact your local GP as they have the qualification to determine whether aromatherapy is suitable and safe for you. Please be cautious if you have allergies, hay fever, eczema or any other skin related problems as these could cause problems. Essential oils if purchased are not to be used neat on the skin, they have to be diluted before use, however lavender oil and tea tree oil is an exception.

Relaxing Through Your Preferred Kind of Massage
When you talk about relaxation, massage often comes into mind together with other things. This is because massage can help your body relax and recover after being constantly exposed to stress. However, different people often have different preferences when it comes to having a massage. Some may prefer to have a massage that delivers gentle strokes, while others find it more soothing when moderate pressure is applied.
In North York massage spas, different massage services are often being offered to satisfy your individual relaxation needs. Because of this, knowing different kinds of massage can allow you to select your preferred service.
If you are the type of person who always experience muscle knots and stiffness, and would the application of pressure soothing. Then massage types like shiatsu, deep tissue massage or a Swedish massage can be your massage of choice. All three are commonly offered in several North York spas.
The practice of shiatsu originated from Japan and means finger pressure in Japanese. It involves the use of the hands, palms and the thumbs to apply direct pressure in specific areas in the body. The principle of the practice is derived from the Chinese medicine belief that diseases occur when there is an obstruction in the flow of Chi. By applying direct and constant pressure for some time in specific areas in the body, it can allow the body’s energy or Chi to flow freely and promote health.
Another form of massage that you can choose to have is the Swedish massage. This type of massage is done through five different strokes that aim to promote blood circulation to the heart and other parts of the body. The first stroke is the use of kneading motion which is referred to as Petrissage. The Effleurage is one of the three main strokes in performing a Swedish massage and involves deep penetrating strokes. With the use of the palm, a rhythmic percussion stroke can be performed which is called Tapotement. The other two strokes is Friction that is done by creating circular movements with the fingers, and Vibration which involves rapid shaking of an area of the body.
However, if you are the type who wants to have a relaxing massage and a pleasurable experience at the same time, an erotic or sensual massage is just what you need. North York massage spas like Studio9 offer this kind of massage service. This type of massage aims to stimulate all your senses, including your erotic sense, while allowing you to relax your tensed body. The experience may be an unforgettable one, as this type of massage is done by gorgeous women who will take care of your relaxation and pleasure needs.

Some Tips For You To Follow In Relieving Yourself From Stress
I'm sure many of you will agree that getting stressed out leaves you with a very bad mood, Which in turn blocks your productivity because it causes you to lose focus and it also blocks your creativity or the ability to think rationally. You always end up getting angry about the small things when you're stressed which also leads to some petty fights with a family member/co-worker/persons you are always with.
If you agree to all of that then you surely would also agree that it is a serious problem that needs to be resolved. With that said, here is a list of tips on what you should do to combat or relieve stress.
First is you should eat healthy foods. Many foods have an impact on our mood, health and over all well-being. Foods, high in fats tend to elevate your blood pressure and cholesterol level. While refined carbohydrates, processed foods, foods high in sugar and caffeine, can cause a sudden and dramatic spike in energy followed by a dramatic drop. Be sure you are eating a balanced diet including the 5 fruits and/or vegetables a day, lean protein, and make sure to drink plenty of water as well. If you can't tolerate eating fruits and veggies, then consider buying a juicer or food processor if you don't already have one and turn those solid foods you don't want to eat into liquid for you to drink. Surely this will make it a lot easier for you to ingest any healthy food you just can't take eating.
Second tip is to exercise on a regular basis. Exercise is one of the best natural highs available. That's because it releases endorphins which are "happy" chemicals in the brain. This is a natural way to release tension, increase energy and most certainly improve your mood. Not to mention you will stay toned and improve your overall physical condition. For adults, an added bonus of exercising regularly is that it can also lead to an improved sex life.
The next one is to get sufficient rest on a consistent basis. Adults need at least 6 hours but the ideal is to have 7-8 hours of sleep each NIGHT. If you aren't getting a minimum of six hours you will most probably be not able to work or perform tasks optimally. And notice the capitalized night? It's because you really should sleep at night as your cells regenerate during the night time and it will help if you are resting when they are regenerating. Also, if you're using caffeine in place of sleep, then you should really stop doing so. Caffeine causes peaks and valleys in energy levels and can alter your moods if your body is deprived.
Another good tip in combating stress is deep breathing. When you feel stress welling up, you should take a deep breath, hold it for as long as you can and then let it out slowly. Do this several times. Then work on making your inhalation and exhalation of equal length. Doing this simple routine will slow down your heart rate and send a biological signal to your brain that you are not in crisis. You can do the routine until you feel physically calm.
With these tips, you can prevent or battle with any stressful situation pretty easily.
